I sat down this evening pondering about our dear country, and this phrase struck my mind, “I went to school bare footed” accredited to President Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan. This postulation of his drew lot of sympathetic comments from most fanatic Nigerians and social and political commentators, who used it to gain irrelevant applause from their audience, but as for me Mr Jonathan has ridiculed His humble beginning.

In our belove country Primary education is rarely talked about, lack policies and manpower, it has also have been left in the hands of individuals and religious organizations making it so expensive and rarely affordable for a normal Nigerian. Today much emphasis have been laid on tertiary education let’s not forget Mr. a child can’t write, read  while in primary or nursery school the tendency of doing better in higher institution is very slim.

There is a proverb that says “ he that wears the shoe knows where it pinches” you wore this shoe before, you know how painful it was but it seems the luxuries in Aso Rock have made the painful memories evaporate, with due respect Mr. President do you think kids will be happy with you if they are so blessed with the ability of rational thinking? Mr. forget not this is where residents like you are made, Lawyers, Doctors, Farmers, industrialists, Governors, teachers etc are discovered.

Mr. President Sir, how many pupils have you bought school uniforms, school scandals, books/textbooks since your miraculous and planned elevation? Why is fund allocated for education in the nations yearly budget the lowest in West-Africa?

I personally applaud Dr. Godswill Akpabio, basically because he didn’t forsake his humble beginning, he didn’t just tell Akwa-Ibomites his difficult early life as a child, but he used his opportunity to declare free and compulsory education from primary to senior secondary school in Akwa Ibom, distributing school uniform and textbooks don’t make the policy to look as a fluke. Thumb up Mr. Governor for this exhibition of Golden heart.
